A free booklet, the Walking Tour of Historic Homes containing a self-guided tour of 15 City of New London historic homes is available at the New London Public Museum and several shops throughout the New London Area. Donations are appreciated.

Established in 1917 with the donation of the unique taxidermy collection of Charles Carr, the museum's permanent collection includes a wide range of artifacts, documents and rare books.  Native American objects, a military collection of uniforms and arms, and an important selection of mounted birds are just some of the highlights of the permanent collection.

Objects from around the world include Inuit tools, South American pottery, rocks and minerals, and shells.  Extensive documentation of local history, including photos, journals, and other records, is available to researchers.  The book collection features rare volumes on birds, along with community history resources.

Changing displays showcase the permanent collection and occasionally feature displays of other collections.  Please check back on this web site or call the museum for information on upcoming exhibits and programs.
