Parent and Child Level 1 (PCA1) There are no skill prerequisites for Parent and Child Aquatics (PCA). Children must be at least 6 months old to enroll. A parent is required to accompany each child in the water and participate in the classes. Level 1 introduces basic skills to parents and children. Parents are taught to safely work with their child in the water, including how to appropriately support and hold their child in the water and how to prepare and encourage their child to participate fully and try the skills. Children are introduced to basic skills that lay a foundation to help them learn to swim. Several water-safety topics are also introduced which are directed towards parents.)
Parent and Child Level 2 (PCA2) In this class infants and young children from 18 months to 3 years old become more comfortable performing the skills learned in PCA Level 1. Participants improve on these skills and learn advanced skills in Level 2
Preschool Aquatics Level 1-3 The recommended ages for children in Preschool Aquatics (PRE) is 3-5 years old yet participation is not determined by age alone.
Preschool Aquatics Level 1 (PRE1) For children 3 years oldTeaches children how to enter the water safely. Exit water using ladder, steps or side independently. Breathing control and submerging, opening eyes and retrieving submerged objects, buoyancy on front and back, glides, treading, alternating arm and leg actions. Most of the skills are with assistance.
Preschool Aquatics Level 2 (PRE2) For children 4 years old:  The objectives of this level are to build on the basic aquatic skills learned in PRE Level 1 and to give children further success with fundamental aquatic skills performed to a slightly more advanced degree than at Level 1. Most skills in this level are performed with assistance; however, this level marks the beginning of independent aquatic locomotion skills. Children continue to explore using simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to gain more proficiency for future strokes. Level 2 expands on the self-help and basic rescue skills introduced in Level 1.
Preschool Aquatics Level 3 (PRE3) For children 5 years old: The objective in Level 3 is to build on the skills learned in Level 1 and 2 by providing additional practice of basic aquatic skills at slightly more proficient performance levels and greater distances and times. Skills in this level are performed independently. Children are taught to improve coordination of combined simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg actions. Children will be presented with additional safety skills and improve comprehension of previous knowledge.
Learn to Swim Level 1 (LTS1) : The objectives of this level are to learn basic personal water safety skills and rules. Participants will learn elementary aquatic skills that are the basis of advanced skills learned in the Learn to Swim (LTS) upper levels.
Learn to Swim Level 2 (LTS2) This class builds upon the basic skills learned in LTS Level 1 and individuals become comfortable performing the skills on their own, with no assistance. In this level, participants will see progress in true locomotion skills on the front and the back.
Learn to Swim Level 3 (LTS3) This is a stroke development class that builds on the fundamentals of LTS Level 2. Amongst other skills, two new methods of kicking are introduced and individuals learn the rules of headfirst entries.
Learn to Swim Level 4 (LTS4) Stroke improvement is the main focus of this level. Increased distances improve endurance of the basic strokes, while instruction and practice help to develop the more advanced butterfly, breaststroke, and back crawl strokes.  Participants also learn turns at the wall to become more efficient swimmers.
Learn to Swim Level 5 (LTS5) A LTS Level 5 student desires to become more coordinated in all six strokes through increased practice and longer distances. Flip turns at the wall are also taught and practiced to increase efficiency while swimming.
Learn to Swim Level 6 (LTS6)

All three sub-programs of Level 6 focus on building power and smoothness into the students’ strokes. In the future these students may want to competitively swim with the North East Aquatics Team or at the high school level. Other students may be interested in becoming lifeguards and water safety instructors in the future. The three subsections of LTS Level 6 are: Personal Water Safety, Fundamentals of Diving, and Fitness Swimmer. Programs are offered upon instructor availability.
