Responsibilities:
Working as a team member to enforce laws of the state of Wisconsin and the city of New London, protecting life, property, and being involved in community-orientated policing.
  
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
possible lateral transfer for years of experience.
   
Salary:
Min $61,465.00 / Max $74,708 per year -Dependent on Qualifications

-5-5 schedule 2027 hours per year 11 hour shifts
-Hourly rate estimated for 2024 $30.32 ($61,465)-$36.85 ($74,708) per hour
-Shift premiums $.75 for 10p-6a and $.40 for 2p-10p OIC pay $.50
-55 hour vacation weeks
-Longevity $100 per year after 5 years
-Receive 20 hours of comp at the beginning of each year
-Sick Time payout after 15 years of service - unlimited sick time bank
-Fitness incentive and Family municipal gym/pool membership

-Ability to buy back 3 vacation days each year
-Holiday pay - extra double time if worked and extra single if not worked

Qualifications:
-Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
-Ability to perform essential functions of this position
-Ability to possess a firearm
-Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
-Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
-Clear and concise speech
-Driver's license
-Good driving record
-Good physical condition
-Good verbal and written communication skills
-Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
-No domestic abuse convictions
-No felony convictions
-React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
-U.S. citizen
-Vision correctable to 20/20
-Minimum Age: 20
     
Education Requirements:
-High school diploma
-60 college credits / Associate's degree

Intern Position
THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO INTERN POSITIONS OPEN AT THIS TIME.

The New London Police Department works with college students interested in doing a summer internship.  The interns get involved in doing Ride-A-Longs, projects for the Police Department, and become familiar with all duties of a law enforcement officer.

Ride-A-Longs
The New London Police Department has a ride along program that allows people interested in law enforcement to have that opportunity to shadow an officer for a day.  We also work closely with Fox Valley Technical College Ride-A-Long program offering Police Science students an opportunity to ride along with our agency.

If you are interested in doing a Ride-A-Long please contact the New London Police Department at 920-982-8505. Everyone doing a Ride-A-Long must sign a waiver or if you are under the age of 18 you must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver.
