Description:
Cast iron general store plug tobacco cutter. Long black handle that can be lifted up and down to raise and lower the blade. The blade of the cutter has flat blade screws to allow the blade to be detached for sharpening. There is a place on the front of the cutter marked in ½ inch segments to measure the tobacco for purchase. Lettering on side reads, "Penn Hardware Company".

Nearly every general store or cigar shop a century ago or more used a plug tobacco cutter mounted on a counter. The plug tobacco was cut for sale to customers. It was usually sold by the inch.
