Arthur Paul Kannenberg was born on April 1, 1887 in Milwaukee, the son of Edwin and Minnie Kannenberg. He was by profession a confectioner like his father. By 1916, he and his wife Lenora were living in Oshkosh.
Mr. Kannenberg was a self-educated archeologist. He served as president of the Wisconsin Archeological Society. From 1935 to 1945, he worked as the Curator of Archeology at the Oshkosh Public Museum.
