Description:
Single articulate brachiopod specimen removed from matrix. Vertical plate is exposed through eroded external shell. Fracture in commissure reveals crystal growth within shell.

This brachiopod shell exhibits replacement but it also has some crystal growth occuring within the shell. If the shell were to erode over time, it may reveal an internal mold made entirely of quartz crystals, making this another very unique discovery. This particular brachiopod is also different in appearance from the other brachiopods on exhibit. Based on the shape and size of the specimen, what can be deduced about its habits and environments?
