VE Exhibit Label 1:
Not all fossils preserve a high level of detail. This horn coral from Iowa is a fantastic example of the effects that weathering can have on a specimen. The majority of the detail has been removed and the rough shape of the original horn coral is all that remains. The label on this specimen was placed by Charles Carr, museum founder, when the specimen was part of his private collection.
