This is part of the guard from a belemnite. A squid like creature that had an internal skeleton. The guard was located at the tip of the skeleton and is the most common fossil found of a belemnite. This specimen was found in Wyoming in rock dating back to the Jurassic Period, 201.3 million to 145 million years ago. Belemnites are now extinct but didn't die out until the end of the Cretaceous Period, 66 million years ago.
