The carbonized leaf pictured here comes from a seed-bearing plant, one of the first of their kind. Although this plant lived during the Carboniferous, roughly 350 million years ago, and went extinct during the time of the dinosaurs, the leaves of this plant have begun to look similar to leaves we see on trees today.
