Description:
Seven brachiopod casts made entirely out of quartz crystals.
VE Exhibit Label 1:
These specimens are unique within this collection. They are the only external casts of brachiopods made entirely out of quartz crystals. Identifyng a specimen like this in the field would be very difficult because they would look like any other small cluster of crystals that may be seen on the ground. Scientists must be very dilligent during an excavation, so as not to miss some of the more unique finds that are associated with larger or more well known specimens.
