Articulated section of crinoid stem. Appears to have been flattened slightly by compression forces.

This section of a crinoid is from the stem of the organism which has a set of root like tentacles at the base of the stem and a crown at the top. The crown usually has five feathery tentacles that are used to filter plankton and other microscopic food sources from the water. Still found today these filter feeders are commonly referred to as sea lilies.
