One well preserved brachiopod cast, removed from matrix, with well defined ribs, hinge, sulcus, umbo and commissure.

VE Exhibit Label 1:
This is another well preserved external cast of a brachiopod. The details are sharp and the distinct features associated with the individual valves can be seen quite clearly. The radial lines were ribs that helped to strengthen the shell, and the groove was a way for the organism to align with water flow to optimize feeding.
