Description:
Assemblage of brachiopods and bryozoans preserved in pieces of Ordovician Shale.
VE Exhibit Label 1:
This sample of Silurian age rock, 443 million to 416 million years ago, is full of small marine organisms. The majority of which are small brachiopods. The branching pieces at the top are bryozoans that resemble coral. The rest of the rock is full of small fragments of various marine organisms with the spaces between these grains being filled with very fine sediment.
